Friends,
I had my interview at St. Paul, Minnesota yesterday. It was smooth took about 15 mts of the actual interview, 30 mts of waiting before interview. Asked 10 questions from the 100 standard questions, went through all the questions in the N-4400 form and verified and asked to write" My car is blue in color. ". At the end of it the Officer congratulated me and told that she is recommending me for Citizenship. On asking when the Oath is likely, the answer was that it could be this month or in the next two months.

Have you got a common last name or a muslim name?
Have you approached your congresman?

Did the interviewing officer specifcially tell you that your name check is pending?

Common Name

Yes, its very common Muslim Name. Officer didn't say that the name check is pending. He said I should get the oath letter soon. Everything seems to be okay. I went to local INS office last month via INFOPASS and the agent told me that my name check pending and it can take indefinite amount of time. She had no estimate.
My sister's intervew was in Dec. 05 about a month after mine and she got her oath letter in the middle of Jan 06.
I am still waiting. I wrote letter to the interviewing officer and he told me worte back that wait for upto 120 days and if no response than I have option to seek court's assistance. I haven't approached congressman/rep yet. I dont know how to go about doing that.

I sent email to the FBI about the name check status. 3 weeks ago. No response. I called the number (D.C) and the lady said that they don't provide the status of Name check anymore.
So dont know what else to do except wait.

Write to Norm Coleman and see his response. Now is the time to write to the politicians. After 120 days it is time to file a suite as per law. I will be following your footsteps in St. Paul when I am eligible to apply. Do keep us posted.

Yesterday I met a lady in minneapolis whose application to interview took 6 months - both for herself and her husband. St. Paul office does seem efficient in processing and delays can be attributed to FBI name check or USCIS's own IBIS name check.
