Hi Gurus,

I got my Employee based GC on Jan 10, 2002. I've sent in my N-400 papers on 10/16/2006, which is very much as per the guidelines of USCIS (<90 days). I had my FP done on 11/4. Today (11/22/2006), I have received my interview letter in the mail and the interview is scheduled at Chicago DO office on 1/8/2007 at 1 PM. My 5 years anniversary date is 1/10/2007.

Is it okay to attend interview even before 5 year anniversary date? Do you guys suggest me to postpone my interview? Please help me.....

Thanks

10/12/2006 - Sent N400 to NSC
10/16/2006 - Priority Date
10/23/2006 - RD
10/30/2006 - FP notification
11/04/2006 - FP at Naperville, IL
11/22/2006 - Received interview letter (dated 11/16)
01/08/2006 - Interview at Chicago downtown DO.

Search this site for some recent threads about this. I think it screwed some people up, but at least one person was told "if it is only a couple of days, it's ok".

It's hard to believe that the USCIS has sped up enough that quick processing is screwing things up -- traditionally it's slow processing that was the problem.

Good luck.

Thanks Flydog for your quick reply. What does it mean by screwed? I can not attend my interview? I've seen any postings with these types of issues....

My understanding is that I will not have my oath on the same day of my interview, which means I will be okay since my oath would be after my 5 year anniversary.
Thanks

you are ok

you should be ok. Today morning I had my interview (at Chicago) which is 5 days before my 5 year GC anniversary.

I was worried about my interview too for the same reason but everything went well.

Good Luck.

Thanks Oats

Thanks Oats...I really appreciate your response. How did your interview go at Chicago? Could you please share it?

Thanks

"Screwed up" isn't the same as "Screwed" :)

In at least one case, the USCIS descheduled the interview. I think in another, they had the interview and then said "well, since 5 years haven't gone by yet, we can't make a decision". In both cases, I think it was well more than 2 days early.

Search the forum for the threads.

Good luck, go to your interview. Don't worry too much.

You should be jumping up and down with joy because your N400 is being processed so fast... I mean less than 3 months from PD to Interview is Blazzzzzing fast! Most people wait about 6 months, but some wait over 18 months to get an interview so be happy.

As long as you followed the rules they have set forth i.e. applying 5 yrs minus 90 days, then you should have nothign to worry about!

Congratulations and Good Luck!

Hanimi,
My interview took place three days before my 3rd (marriage based) GC anniversary. Never came up at the interview. You can read up a very long post of mine detailing all three stages.
Good luck!!!

Hi Triple Citizen

I have my marriage based N-400 Interview in January. Can you please share your interview experience, which documents did you take, any photocopies of documents and any other advice. Thanks

MJA,
You can read up my interview experience at:-

http://immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?p=1558894#post1558894

I took the following documents with me:-

(1) My birth certificate and my wife's birth certificate
(2) Our marriage certificate
(3) Originals of the documents which showed cohabitation (mortgage statement, bank account statement, utility bill, insurance bill, etc)
(4) Original traffic citation document and fees receipt

None was asked for. My interview was trivial and totally pain free. My advice to you is to relax and be yourself. Answer every question truthfully but do not volunteer any information on your own. You will do fine. Good luck!!!

Thnaks Triple Citizen. What documents do you use to enter Pakistan, Pakistani Visa or NICOP card? I have heard that the Pakistani Passport with your foreign passport is not enough to enter Pakistan? Any recent experience?

MJA,
I have visited Pakistan twice (2004 and 2005) since I became a Canadian citizen. On both occasions I entered with my Canadian passport. I had a visitor visa in 2004 and NICOP in 2005. I had a valid Pakistani passport on both occasions and could have entered using that. However my wife holds a US passport only and I did not want us to use separate lines. Thus I used my Canadian passport. NICOP allows you to enter Pakistan using any foreign passport. Just make sure you present both to the officer.
