so i had my interview to today at garden citty , well it went ok i think but i did not get approved. we went into the interviewing room was sworn in and then the lady that interviewd us started asking us questions , she asked my husband more questions than she did me , however we were able to answer all her questions , she was kinda harsh with a not so good attitude, she collected all our supporting documents and at the end said she is going to put pending on my passport and we will be notified in the mail. I am a bit worried because she didn't say y it was pending ,she just said we will be notified in the mail. She did not say anythig about name check so i don't kn ow y she did not approve right there, has anyone had simillar experiences?.

ok , her goes
I came to the United states when i was 16 on a B1 B2 visa , i was legal for a year because my stay was extended. I never left after i arrived. My husband and i met when i was 19 and been dating till we got married a little over a year ago. so we have been together for 7 years. My father had a petition filed for me but that got denied years ago. they didn't ask anything about that . Is it strange that she didn't even tell us anything as to why we couldn't get a decision right away.
one more thing , I do not work , only my husbad works , she asked my husband to see his bank statement, of the account he has independant of me is that normal, (we didn/t have it and she didn't insist)

I had my interview at GC as well. I haven't been on this site in a long long time so I'm not sure if my signature has all my dates etc.

Our interviewer was also a very nasty woman who refused to smile. Made me feel like I was in jail.

We didn't get approved immediately either and from what I heard, most ppl who interview there don't. So don't be concerned.

I got approved about 4 months after the interview- but now I can't remember off hand. Hope it shows on my signature below.

Did u have shared documents.. Such as lease, mortgage, insurance, utility bills, credit cards?

which country are you from? you didn't say. i got the same thing when i went for my interview at federal plaza. it wasn't due to namecheck.

I got the same experience. The IO just said we will get the written decision on the mail. Actually, the next day when I checked my email, we were actually approved the same day on our interview day. She just didn't wanna tell us. Then 3-4 days later, I got the welcome letter, 9 days later, the actual card. Check your email tomorrow n see... you might have the same experience as me....

Or maybe person wasn't authorized to approve. U didn't answer what supporting documentation did u provide?

gloyra like i said in my initial post. we gave all our joint documents we had everthing and gave all that we had and nothing more was requested from us.

THIS WAS OUR GARDEN CITY EXPERIENCE - AND THE LADY WAS VERY FRIGID TO US ALSO:

My wife received notice today that she was "ineligible to adjust status to lawful permanent resident alien" stating that I "failed to overcome the excluding provisions of Section212(a)(4) of the Immigration and Nationality Act"............basically because I am currently unemployed.

WHAT REALLY F'IN BURNS ME UP is the fact that the decision was sent out on Friday EVEN THOUGH they gave us until Friday morning to come up with a cosponsor with an affidavit of support I-864 - WHICH WE DID (my brother and his wife took in just under $100,000 for each of the last 3 years) AND IT APPEARS THEY DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT IT WHEN THEY MADE THEIR DECISION.

NOW *I* have to go through the formal BS and whatever fees that it costs me to file for a reconsideration or to have the case reopened based on the co-sponsor and I-864 THEY FAILED TO LOOK AT.

IN ADDITION TO THAT I have to go back to my brother's place and have him gather up ALL THAT STUFF AGAIN and make copies and then have them sign a new affidavit of support.

THEY ought to do what is right and overturn it AUTOMATICALLY once the officer gets around to reading all of the forms and evidence we delivered to her on Friday - WITHOUT us having to trigger that.

SHE gave us until Friday to get her the cosponsor and everything and we BROKE OUR ASS to get her EVERYTHING she asked for and EVERYTHING that should be enough to have us be approved - but SHE dropped the ball and failed to remember that she gave us until Friday morning to come up with this - and SHE failed to read the new evidence and information that we delivered.

What burns me up is she told us to go right to her and give her that stuff but security REFUSED to allow us and made us deliver that packet to them. My wife is PO'd because she thinks I should have politely demanded and more or less begged them to let us see the officer - but it was clear to me they were not going to let us see the officer and begging and friendly persuasion was not going to do any good.

My father thinks I should try to track down a number for USCIS and explain what happened, but I don't know if there is anyone that I can talk to that can or would do anything for me WITHOUT going through the time consuming and sometimes expensive formal BS.

yes i do. but it only takes few key strokes to ask a question and who knows the op may respond, if they get a notification in their email box
