Interview after fingerprinting process..

Hi, I would love to get some help from you guys as I'm looking for some answers to a couple questions.

I'm 18 right now and came from South Korea in Sept 2001. My dad had just gotten his green card through his church, and he petitioned for my green card in November 2001. We waited and waited.. and we found out something really shocking. It was that I was not going to be able to attend colleges outside California until I receive my green card! So my lawyer looked for an anternative and we decided to declare that we missed a portion of the documents that would've given ME the permanent resident status.

So we started the process in late August 2004 and now I have gotten my Employment Authorization card and done the fingerprinting process (once) already. The fingerprinting process occured about a month ago and now I am wondering how much it would take until I get the interview notice.. And since this is family-based case I'm guessing that it's being processed at the local office (Los Angeles) of mine, am i right?

I checked the LA office's processing time for I-485 and as on Nov 10 its processing ones received on June 1, 2004. Should I expect to be interviewed around when this I-485 form gets processed? or Am i just insane expecting that?

I would really appreciate any kind of help.. If you need further information please post it I will try to reply asap.

P.S.: What are the abbreviations that I need to know of when discussing AOS here in this forum? I have no idea what many of these are: AD, RD, RFE, etc..
 
Dont worry. It shouldnt take more then 1 year. In the worst case by August 2005. Otherwise who knows what factors influnces INS speed.You'll be fne. Why do you worry so much, since you have a status right now & EAD. If the colleges you chose require GC just hold on, work for a while 'cause you actulally have your docs going on well and really nothing to worry about.

A lot of people have been telling me to take a year off. Maybe I should really consider that option.. It's sad, but oh well I understand that there are so many people who are in a situation worse than mine..

As to my other question, does the date shown on the processing time for I-485 indicate who are being interviewed? So like if it says June 01 2004, are people who filed I-485 on that date being interviewed (in a simple sense)?

Also, I would love to find out whether family-based I-485 filing is only done at local offices. I thought it was, and I hope it is because that would actually mean mine is being done at LA office which is processing faster with I-485's.

The shown date on the site should be right ( it varies though). Ususally they process applications +/- # Days around that date). Your'll be interviewed at local office as well. SOmetimes it goes faster that you expect. I know how frustrating it is to wait especially with hanging plans in the future but all you can do now is to take your time and put up with this one year. There's nothing that could be done to speed it up. It's all about INS.Everybody here knows they are unpredictible for bad ot good.
