Ladies and gents, I have questions regarding EAD.
I spoke to a CIS customer service rep regarding my application for an EAD. I was trying to find out if on day 90, and I don't hear from them, I could go and get an interim EAD from my DO (as I had heard from people). The lady I spoke to said there was no such thing, and I shouldn't listen to 'people', but only them. A few minutes later I went to the CIS website and it states: If you have not recieved a decision within 90 days of receipt by USCIS of a properly filed EAD application, you may obtain interim work authorization by appearing in person at your local USCIS district office. How come she couldn't bring this to my light? This highly esteemed forum has said that in the past too, unless I am delirious.
She then told me that since right now the USCIS is processing Jan 2007 EAD applications, it could take up to 5 months (or more) before I got a response. In her words "be happy that you are in America, other millions of people are outside and looking in, so count yourself lucky and be patient ~ welcome to America"
Anyways I live in Philadelphia and my H1B 'transfer' blew up (asked to consular process but i have to passport to travel), so I am sitting at home waiting for this thing to go through so I can go back to work.
So how long exactly does it take to approve an EAD? About 90 days? Thats what i thought
