Went there at 7 am today. There was a lot of confusion since there was no power (yes, I mean electricity!) for the INS office. The security personnel and IIOs were requesting everyone in line to go home and come back another day. We say many people leaving.
My wife and I hung around for about 20 minutes - hoping that PG&E will fix the problem soon. As luck would have it, as we were getting into our car to leave, my wife noticed that the lights inside the building came on. This was around 7.20 am. We went back - stood in the appointments line (we were #2 in the line). Went in after the security check. The officer took all our documents and we got our passports stamped back by 7.45 am - including the IBIS check. That is a record 20 minutes!
All in all, it was very lucky for us and the few people who stayed back hoping for the power to come back on.
And of course, in San Jose, your courtesy copy (or original copy) of 485 approval will be accepted to stand in the appointments line.
One more tip - pls make sure that the ADIT photographs are utmost 2 months old - the officer was asking everyone about when the picture was taken.
Good luck to everyone who is waiting.. Just be patient. Your day will come.
