A friend in need asked this question. I thought I would definitely get an answer here...

1) If I am working with Company A in NewYork who has filed for my green
card, can
I also file my green card with company B in Chicago.

If Yes, then

2) At what point during the green card process do I have to move to
company B.

Please help a friend...

1 - Yes

2 - As soon as I 485 ( From Company B ) is approved, assuming its for future Employment.

2) As early as possible after he recieves his EAD card(if he had applied). In case he gets a local transfer or an RFE, he might face this question as to why he has not moved to the company B.

If I were your friend, I would wait until the GC process sponsored by company A in NY is complete. INS is big in 'intention'.
If the INS somehow discovered that two I-485 forms were submitted for the same person under the same category, your friend could be in a big trouble during the interview.
How could your friend convince them that he/she would work full time, on a permanent basis, for two different companies in two different cities more than a thousand miles apart?

At the 485 stage

When you file for the second 485 you have to answer a question as to if you have filed for immigration before. You answere there has to be 'Yes" as your have one pending from Company A.
At this point - I understand - you have a choice to go with one or the other. You cannot do two AOS. You will have to make choice as to which one you will prefer. Company A if you plan to work for them after GC or Company B in the other situation.

Please consult your immigration atty. for legal advice.
