H1B salary cap removed

Monday, 17 November , 2003, 16:38

The minimum salary requirement of $60,000 per year for holders of H1B visa in the United States has been removed following the reduction of the number of these visas a few months ago to 65,000 from 1,95,000. This is good news for software companies like Wipro and Infosys that are likely to face lower onsite operation costs.

The number of H1B visas was increased during the dotcom boom when US companies found it difficult to get IT workers. At that time, the Clinton regime approved the hike in visas, with a clause that it would revert back to the old number after a few years.

With the removal of restrictions, the Indian IT companies are now free to reduce salaries of their onsite workers.

H1B never had a minimum salary requirement andt his news is just a load of crap.
