Its not too complex to take the pictures (3/4th face) for I485, EAD, and Finger printing etc.

Here is how:
Do it on a bright sunny or partly cloudy day.
Use preferably 400 speed film. Findd a spot in SHADE, where lighting is adequate, uniform and diffused, like covered front of a house at around 12-3 PM.
See that dark shadows are not formed on the subject\'s face.

Hang a white sheet behind your subject at the level of his/her head, a 3ft. X 3ft. is enough.

You need to set your camera at 3.4 times focal-length-of-your-camera-lens(its written on the lens ring).
The distance is in centimeters.
For a 38 mm lens its 129 cm.

Compose and take picture with your subject\'s face turned so that you can see his/her right ear and left eye. Do not useflash. Referer to the INS site for the pose.

To be absolutely sure, take two more (or more) shots varying distance by +/- 10 centimeters.

Develop to 4" X 6" prints. Cut it to the required size.

If you have a well illuminated room you may even shoot inside around noon on a bright day.
You may give it a shot if you are about to finish a roll.

suggestion once you have your GC, you can make more money
taking immigration photos outside INS office rather continuing
working as a skilled labor.

I think babb_s made a point. Of course not every body is familiar to handle a camera but again, the number is not too small who can do it.
The basic thing is what would be distance between camera and object. It is different for different lens ( e.g, 28mm, 35mm etc). I request you to provide a chart or formula , if you have any.

babb_s, thanks for the tips. BTW, I paid $10 for 6 pictures. If you really want to start it as a hobby, you probably can get a pretty good profit margin on it. Best Luck.

Pretty good tip

I paid $40.00 for 3 sets of picture at AAA and they didnt come out that great either.

next tine, if I have lot of time ahead of filing, I will definitely give it a try

subject distance

The distance in cm from camera to subject should be 3.4 times the focal length. Assuming you need a head image size of 30 mm.

16 PassPort photos at CVS cost only $7.99

Go to CVS. Me & My wife both did together for 7.99

You get a maximum of 4 poses. We did one each, so 8+8

You have to guide the operator, take the INS sample sheet.
Be sure right ear & left eye are visible.
I have done it sucessfully twice for INS.
