INS I-485 Inquiry form (after FP but before Approval notice)

Hi All,

I just now went to INS San Francisco office, waited for 45 minutes to talk to an Officer to find out the status of my I-485 case. He gave me a INS FAX Inquiry sheet and asked me to fax them this inquiry form with all the details. I am going to send a fax to INS tomorrow.

Will this help at all?. He asked me to send a fax to 949 389 3055.

Hi Pachai,

I am in the same boat...waited for >180 days already. FP done >90 days ago. I spoke with my lawyer and she will fax the request on my behalf. In her opinion, if you have waited for more than 90 days since FP, than there is a reason for an inquiry.

She futher told me, if there is an answer, it will come after 1 to 3 weeks.

there is no number, it\'s a plain form...

completed my FP on 04/14/01, don\'t know whether i need to
send it now or after 90 days.

All it says is

CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER
FAX INQUIRY SHEET
Effective 4/22/01

Then they have all the necessary questions like

name etc
date of filing
Type of application
Name of applicant

For I-485 cases, provide the following

principal name
principal wac#
principal visa category
principal approved - I-360, I-140, I-526 WAC# ----

NATURE OF INQUIRY

--- Case pending beyond JIT processing time frame
--- Notice which is clearly erroneous

According to my lawyer, if you have waited for less than 90 days since FP date, INS probably will ignore your Fax request.
