Inportant! TATKAAL Passport renewal

Guys,
I need your help. My wife passport is going to expire next year, and that passport is not regular passport it is a TATKAAL SCHEME passport. My question is can I renew this passport here at an Indian embassy Washington DC or has any body had renewed Taatkal passport while you are in United State?

In this passport, they have written “THIS PASSPORT SHOULD NOT BE EXTENDED WITHOUT PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF BANGALORE OFFICE”.

Her green card is under process, she has an EAD, and her status is Pending I-485.

You have pleanty of time from now till next year to figure it out. Call the embassy they will let you know.

my wife had the same type of passport. i just mailed it to the ny consulate and they called me to say that it will take a bit longer since they have to notify the office in mumbai. we received the renewed passport in about a months time. we faced no problem whatsoever.
