Initiate inquiry with NSC

to inform him about that one case is one office and the other one is in another one and it takes forever the service center to put them together, so maybe he will help us in sending an inquiry to the service centers. what do u think?

the customer service 800 number is realy useless so i thaught talkin with the ombusdman is a good idea.

USCIS does not want to put everything together. They complicate more on our cases by moving here and there and calling customer service is merely useless. I called twice and I did not get proper answer. what to do with these guys? Thank God they did not send one file to TSC and another one to CSC so that my application will be adjudicated by all 4 centers :) How is that?

Nothing to worry. I guess, this is the normal process. You would get an email and transfer notice from the Service Center Transferring your case.
Then the Recipient Service Center would receive it and until they open the transfer packet, you won't hear from them. Once they touch your transferred case, the first activity is you would get an email from the receiving service center saying that we have received your application here on such date for processing. I had to wait for almost 3 months from the date that I received the transfer email (may 30) from TSC until I get the received email from NSC on Aug 8, saying that application has been received here on Aug 7. Eventhough, as per TSC email, it was transferred on May 30, NSC will tell you the date they opened your transferred packet as the day they recived your case(weird though). Hope this clarify the situation.

I got a notice from Texas saying my 485 was transfered to NSC on Sept.30. When they review the cases, what RD do you think they would consider ours? The RD of Texas center or the RD of NSC? It would be extremely unfair if they consider our RD as the one at NSC.

I got an email and message change which says "The case was received by this center" (Hopefully NSC).

TSC transferred it out on Jun 27 and NSC message comes on Oct 23. But my spouse's is not updated yet. Both cases were transferred.

In the last week, we got our 140 approved after upgrading to PP.
We took infopass to check on the 485, but the officer did not have any new info, other than saying the case is transferred. He did not even tell us about the security clearance. But suggested we submit a request. So I called and submitted mine yesterday. I got this email also yesterday.

My spouse tried to submit a request today, but they said he could not, since its only 5 months since the case is filed. So his case is not yet updated as received in NSC.....

Oh...what a mess.....Seems like we have to nudge it along every step.

Hi gc-rush,

I have sent a PM. Please respond.

gc rush and madgu,
are you having transfer issues becuase you sent 485 separately while 140 was pending?
does 485 need to go back to where 140 is pending?

Hi katewill,

you are right. We filed 140 first and then sent 485. They should have kept the 485 in the same center as 140, but they sent it to the wrong center. Then later when they realized it, the sent it back.

Hi katewill,

we filed concurrently I-140/485 under EB-2NIW at VSC during Sep. 2005 before retrogression. My I-140 got approved at VSC. After seeing the movement in EB-2 I filed I-140 under EB-1 EA in June 2006 at NSC. In July 2006 I got a notice from VSC saying that they have transferred my I-485 to NSC. My first EAD/AP was approved by VSC. My second EAD was approved by NSC in Sep. 2006 BUT second AP was transferred to VSC and got the approval from VSC this year. Is it not fun :)

Nobody can figure out why my 485 file was transferred to NSC. Is it because I-140 (EB1) is pending at NSC or for something else???????????????????

hi gc rush and madgu,
thanks for your responses.
my 140 is pending at NSC (may 06) and 485 will be filed next week.
i was hoping that my 485 be sent to TSC seperately for faster processing.
after reading your experiences, i find that it is not a good thing causing delays.

but i don't have control over this.....
i think this is purely due to bi-specialization process which is not properly implemented.

hi, gc rush,
Have you finally received an LIN# after the transfer?
Do you have the new RD or kept the same RD from the TSC?
May be you should send a copy of approved 140 to where your 485 is pending; to make sure they look at your 485 files.

Pls. let me know how your case is going...
