Initial interview

My bro just received a notice for initial interview for adjustment of status based on marriage. Is this Bio and FP? or an actual interview? We are surprized and worried because his ND is just Sept. this year. Can anybod comment on this? Thanks

It could be the receipt notice, or notice for fingerprinting. If it is the interview notice, then it is a superfast DO which practically does not exist :D

This is exactly why we are confused! he has already received the ND and this notice doesn't say anything about fingerprint ot BIO or anything.

Which DO? Is it San Antonio? We filed in August and within weeks received an appointment letter for October. We never received FP/Bio notice, however. If the FP check is not ready by the time of the interview, they will not be approved at that time and will have to wait until all security checks are cleared.

It is San Diego office. He came here with a fiance visa (k1). I guess they did FP and stuff in the US embassy.any ideas?

No, he will have to re-do all FP checks in the US. If he does not get a notice about 2 weeks before the interview, I recommend he attempt walk-in FP, it almost always works. Take the I-485 receipt and the interview notice. I did walk-in FP at San Antonio, there was no problem, it just took a little longer.

And, BTW, processing time at San Diego is 3 months, so it makes sense that the interview is scheduled so quickly. Things have greatly improved since the dismantling of the (in)famous INS -- RIP.

Hi Gringo..please don't forget to post your experience.Good luck with your interview.Didu get ur FP results?
Thank you

Thanks Gringo. I just saw the notice myself eventhough my brother has read it for me with his poor English. It is an actual interview notice without FP or anything but only for his 17 year-old son (from his previous marriage) and not for himself! We are even more confused now. Do think he should still take his son and himself and walk in for a fingerprint? or only this is for his son because he is 17 and doesn't need a FP? or what else? and By The Way it is Chula Vista office and not actual San Diego office

Clarification

So, this is the final word for other's reference. My brother and his son both received notice to appear for the initial interview. Chula Vista is faaaaast!

Hi, memo!
Could you please tell me if your brother and your nephew have appointments for the same day, or is it two different appointments for two different days?
Did they file theirs I-485 together (same day, same envelope) or separately?

Also – you nephew has to get fingerprinted since he is older then 14. During his interview he’ll be instructed where and when to take them.

They sent everything together and they have both never been fingerprinted since they arrived the US. We are still wondering why they didn't send a notice for FP prior to interview. They tried a walk in today but they didn't let them in! Anybody with same expericence? does infopass work?

As I told you earlier – they both will be instructed when and where to do their fingerprints during the interview.
I have an interview next month for my teenaged son, he wasn’t fingerprinted either. I called customer service and asked about that and they told me what I just told you.

Now, please, answer my question: does your brother and his son have same day interview or separately?

Gringo,
I am in a similar situation. I am USC who applied I-130,I-485, I-765 concurrently for my wife. I have not received fp notice by I-485 interview is for Nov 15, 2005 in San Antonio. I will try a walk in fp around Oct 31 if I don't get the fp notice. Did your fp get approved in 2 weeks ? Was interview 2 weeks after the day you did the walk in fp? Did they tell you fp and background check was cleared at the interview?

Thanks.

Gringo,
Update: Got the interview notice for Nov 1, 2005. Could you please answer the questions.
