i am a uk citizen and have lived in the usa since 93 having married a us citizen in 94.i never adjusted my status from temp to perm and subsequently never received a green card. i divorced in 99 and have lived and worked in the us since then on my original ss# and filing taxes etc. i am now engaged, and my fiance(usc) and i need a lawyer (for obvious reasons)
the last time i went home(1997) i returned and had a parolled inspection stamp on my passport and never went back to the ins- am i screwed? :confused:
 
temp...temporary~ perm...permanent

there IS a parolled inspection as its stamped in my passport- it was a deferred entry stamp as my paperwork was not fully acceptable, but i was admitted back into the us- i just didnt go back to settle it.
 
ok- the i-94 is what i have, but it is very expired, and a temporary issue paper one(unless they are all paper) and that was issued to me before the re-entry and before the deferred inspection.
i was legal at the time, i believe, but just didnt have all the right paperwork. i had 90 days to go back, but didnt. ive been checked for legal employment with the ins through an employer based in california, and it came back ok, but im at a loss as to what to do.
