Information for filing 485

Hello,
This is for a friend of mine. His 485 dates are current now. His H1 expires in early 2003. If he gets married
after filing 485, he would like to know the following details.
1. What are the options he has if his 485 get approved
    ( in remote situations - cant predict how INS works) before he gets married
2. What are the steps involved if he gets married before the 485 approval?.
    Is it a simple procedure to add additional dependent?

If the i-485 gets approved before marriage, the spouse will have to obtain GC prior to entering the United States, which usually is a very long process.

If the marriage happens before i-485 approval, the spouse will be able to enter the United State on H4 and the primary applicant will have to file an amended i-485 and include the spouce in it.

In a situation where one files i-485 before marriage, it is advisable not to complete the finger printing process because without finger printing the i-485 cannot get approved and it makes life much easier.
