Hi,

My wife entered USA on H4 Visa. Now I have already received my GC. We have already applied I-485 application for my wife. She has received the EAD card as well. We also have a notice of receipt. The problem is that my lawyer has lost the original copy of notice of receipt. We have a photocopy of the notice of receipt.
* Is there a way to get a duplicate copy from INS?

We are also expecting a travel to India in December. I wanted to apply Advanced Parole for my wife.
* Can I apply for AP ourself or should we get a lawyer to do it for us?
* Where do we have to send the application, VSC or local district office?
* How much time does it take to get it approved?
* What are the supporting documents to be attached with the application?
* Do we send the fees using a personal check?
* Where to get the sample AP letter?

Do we need to show the original I-485 notice of receipt when we come back to US after the trip from India?

No Ins will not issue duplicates of receipt notices.

You can apply AP yourself, download I131 in INS website-forms link. There is a fillable I131 in immihelp.com.

personal check or MO for $110, 2 photos , copy of 485 receipt and a letter stating why you need AP (I485 pending, need to go home without affecting I485 processing) are all the documents reqd.

Read up the archives, find the latest processing times in trackers or in lawyer sites or in INS web site.

You have to send AP application to the center where your I485 is pending.
If you dont have the original receipt you cannot produce it can you? I485 receipt is required to verify your Alien number and receipt number.
