I have been waiting for almost 7 weeks for the decision letter from
USCIS after my second interview for the citizenship which was held in
garden city office, NY on aug 20th, 2007. My first interview was on
june 28th, 2007..I had to go for the second interview to show proof of
residency as i had taken few trips outside US in last 5 yrs.

I called up USCIS the other day but was no help..They told me the
timeline for N-400 is atleast 7 months..My priority date is march
14th...so the operator asked me to call after oct 14th??
do u think if they will be able to help me out if i call after oct
14th? or shall i take an infopass and go see them in person?
I am planning to go to India in december...i hope i will hear from
them b4 tht...
Do you think Infopass is helpful to get some update on my case??? or
is it a waste of time??? I tried to get an infopass but they give the dates only for federal plaza office..but my file is in gardencity office...Do you think they would be able to get info from my file?
This is the 3rd time i am posting the same mesg..I really hope someone will respond...
thank you

You could take an infopass, but they are basically only going to tell you whether the case is pending approval or not. You just have to wait until you get the letter.

Also, if you've been having residency troubles from spending too much time out of the country, I think you might want to reconsider whether you want to go away in December. Don't know how long you are planning to be away, but it won't look good if your case is already shaky.

Agree with boatbod all the way !

Is there a time period that USCIS shud respond after the interview? wht is this 120 day limit means??? Is it after the interview or from the time we send the application?
I am really frustrated as i have to travel in december...wht shall i do? how do I communicate with them? I had my interview in garden city office, NY...i cudnt find their telephone number from the website...Is there anyway i can contact my interview officer...I dont know the full name of my IO...how do i find out?
pls help..thank you...

You can file a WOM/1447(b) lawsuit 120 days after interview. From what I've read, you need to have plenty of supporting evidence that you tried all avenues to get things moving prior to filing suit.

Its been over 2 months after my second interview and no decision letter yet. I have called up the cust service 3rd time but of no use. The person said they are processing march 2007 now..Is it true?? Is it that delayed? I applied in march 2007 & my first interview was in June...I am sure if it went well i wud have received my oath letter by august or sept...
When they say they are processing march 2007, is it the pending cases or regular cases?

Treat anything the USCIS customer service people say with a great deal of skepticism. Many times they have been proved wrong, contradicted themselves, or outright just said whatever might get you off the phone more quickly. The only easy way to find out something concrete is to take an Infopass. Beyond that, you may get some help through your congressman.
