InfoPass in Different State

Hi,

My temporary I-551 in my passport is about to expire (I have 4 weeks left).

I tried to schedule an appointment using InfoPass but it says "At this time, there are no information appointments available for the office in your area. Please try back again later."

I live in Georgia which has only one Local Office together with Alabama (for example Florida has 8 itself...) so I'm afraid my local office is pretty overloaded with work.

The Local Office in South Carolina has available appointment times and is only about 2 hours from where I live.

My question: is it allowed to go to a different Local Office, which is not the closest to my home address? The InfoPass website clearly says "Please enter your home zip code if you are in the US"...

Send a short FAX and/or a letter with necessary details to your regional office director, and copy it to the district and the field office. See attached for USCIS contact details.
Hope that helps

I think it depends upon what IO you get at the infopass center. Sometime they're fussy and would ask you for driving license showing your place of residence.

Just give address/zip code of hotel you would be staying. This would get you appointment. At the appointment time if they ask you zip code again, just give that code. Also, as identity, show your passport.

Why is taking so long for your PR card? It definitely is outside of processing times.... contact your senator and congressman.

Thank you very much for your answers. Finally I managed to schedule an appointment with InfoPass in my local Atlanta office (April 27th was the earliest...). I'll try to find out what's going on with my green card there and if I won't succeed I'll write to my senator and congressman, exciting :)

Thanks again!

It was the Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson Airport on May 14, 2008

I guess, you never got PR card?

Pls post it what USCIS says why you did not receive yet? Or are they saying you have to file I-90 get the replacement?

Correct, I still haven't received my physical plastic green card.

Every time I call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283 I get an answer that all they know is what I can check on uscis.gov myself that my case is received and pending. That's all. If I ask them is there any action item on my side they tell me just to wait.

I'll call them again now, I haven't done it for a long time :)

UPDATE: called them, I couldn't talk to a representative because the call was dropped during the wait but before it the 'robot' :) told me that on May 14th I filed an OS155A and my case is pending. It emphasized many times that there's no need to talk to a representative because this is the latest information they've got and there's nothing else to be told, just wait patiently they will contact me if there's anything needed...

hi tade256,

there are 2 case or more like your case , they entered USA from Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson Airport 2. i think there are problem in ATL airport. you have to call them agian, and agian and agian, until receive your plastic card, good luck

Just as a follow-up in case somebody has the same issue.

I scheduled an InfoPass with my local immigration office (on the InfoPass site when I made the appointment there was an exact category for my situation i.e. temporary green card in passport is just about to expire and still haven't received plastic card).

So I went there and got another year in my passport. They sent an e-mail to the Texas processing center to expedite my case, still haven't received the card of course. Strangely they called my wife but after she told me she's not me they hung up she didn't have a chance to explain the situation.

So I'm waiting again, at least now I know how to have it extended again next year in case I still won't receive it :)
