Infopass Experience

I went to infopass and confirmed that my namecheck was cleared. But the person behind the counter said that the Nebraska office is very busy and my case would take another 4-6 months!!! I first knew my namecheck was cleared in Feb and did my second FP in April. If she is correct, this means it would take them almost one year after you clear your namecheck before adjudication!!

I had mentioned earlier in my other thread that I got 2 magic emails the same day ie on June 5th 2007
The first one said they had approved the I-485's for myself and my family and the second one said 'Card had been ordered'.

However, since my family was travelling today, I made an Infopass appointment today just to make sure that they can re-enter with the new change in status.

Got an appointment at 8-00 am in the mornining. We were the first to get in.

The officer verifed the emails, online case status using the receipt number and verified the travel tickets.
He had minor queries about the date our passport was expiring ( same dd/mm format of India vs mm/dd format of USA)

After that we all 4 got our passports stamped with I-551 which is the same as Green Card. No Hassles at all.

Word from Local Officer

I took Infopass Appointment on last friday. My name check got cleared on 04/27/2007 and waiting to be assigned. My wife name check got cleared 08/09/2004, her pre adjudication is complete and waiting for approval. Officer also told me that my wife might get approval before me.

PD: 08/2002.
i-485 RD : 08/2004.

I took an InfoPass appointment and one was available the same day. I went there and was called up within 5 minutes of checking in. She told me my case is still pending review. I asked about my security check, and she looked that up and said that is still pending, which is probably why my case is still pending. I told her I have given my fingerprints twice, and she said 'we don't do fingerprints anymore' (So it seems like they go straight into security check nowadays.). I asked if she could see if the security checks for the derivative applications were done, but she said it didn't matter, because those cases wouldn't be approved unless the check for the primary application was completed. Was out within 15 minutes.

How to get InfoPass?

I am sure this is a stupid Q. But I have no idea where one can get a infopass. Can someone privide a link?

Thanks very much!

=======================

Since there was a lot of talk about finding your case status through Infopass, I decided to give it a shot today. Here’s my experience…

I was able to book an Infopass appointment this morning for 11:00 AM today. There were not many people so I was in and out within half an hour. The immigration officer told me that everything looked ok. When asked about name check she said that it was cleared on April 21 of this year. She also mentioned that they did name check twice; first one was cleared in Dec 04. She said everything was in order and it was just a matter of being assigned to an officer for adjudication. When asked about the timeframe for the case being assigned to an officer, she said that they are working hard to process all cases but there are too many cases in the pipeline right now. She asked me to wait another 90 days.

Other folks, who did the same, please share your infopass experience here…

GC Interview date - 19Sept06 (San Antonio Office)

On interview date / time visa numbers were not available for my category / country. Interview went smooth. After interview I was told by the officer that I should get GC when Visa numbers become available. Now the dates are current & visa numbers are available, I haven’t received any notification.

My case was initially filed in Nebraska Service Center (with receipt # LIN......)
Since last yr, when ever I check my status on line or phone or operator - only msg I get is "On June 23, 2006, we transferred this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our CHICAGO, IL location for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action. Please follow any instructions on this notice. ..........."

In the meanwhile, I had to move & filed AR11 in March07. But since then I have applied for AP & EAD renewals for wife & I. Already got her AP a week ago & am waiting for mine. Also got acknowledgment + biometrics notice for EAD Renewal. Meaning that addres change should have been noted & working.

I am not able to get InfoPass appointment to talk to immigration officer / check on 485 status since the system keeps giving me the message as “At this time, there are no information appointments available for the office in your area. Please try back again later."

What is the option to choose while making InfoPass appointment?

I live in Austin, TX & nearest office is in San Antonio.

Any advice / suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Today I went to Los Angeles Office to check status of the case. Cust Rep Lady told me that I gave FP only in March so you have to wait. I gave FP in May, I don't know where this March has come from?

Later she told that they didn't receive results for FP's. I was surprised and stressed on asking for Namecheck the she said FP's are not received (I didn't receive any LUD after FP's some how). After so much of pestering for NameCheck she said that is part of the complete package received from FBI.

After the infopass I called FBI to check FP status and the FBI rep said they were sent back immediately with the results. I asked her NameCheck stuff, she said it is done by a different division and she doesn't have any idea. It seems there are 3 and 1/2 million people waiting for Namecheck.

Very depressed after the infopass, worried whether I am stuck in Name Check again?!!! In 2005 when my case was ready to approval, USCIS customer rep told me that my case is waiting for name check. In Dec 2006 congressman's office told me that they are waiting for visa number and it should be done after my PD becomes current. I don't know whether NameCheck is requested again??? Confused, depressed and frustrated about the whole GC thing.

Important Question About InfoPass

Hello All:

My I-485 was approved last week but my wife's was not. So I am planning on taking a infopass to see if I can get that expedited. I have a question to all of you that have taken infopass and went through it. I have never done one.

1. Can you go yourself to inquire about your wife case as long as she comes with you? Do the officer talk to you while she is present or they will ask you go away. My wife does'nt know a thing about immigration.

2. If yes, while scheduling infopass should I fill my name and details or her's?

I would very much appreciate any of you talking about your expereinces in such a situation.

Thanks again.

Yes, you can go.

Fill your/her details with 2 people.

You mean fill her details and select 2 people.

Thanks I will do that. Have you taken an infopass? How was the IO? Friendly and cooperative? My local office is San Jose and they are very rude so was wondering should I select another zip code and go to another offfice and hope they will not object to talk to me.

What do you think?

InfoPass apointment question: which one should I choose?

I am planning to make an InfoPass appointment for my pending I-485 application. On the InfoPass web page, I was asked to pick one from the following

1) Order from Immigration Court
2) Case Processing Appointment
3) EAD inquiry appointment
4) Case Services follow-up appointment. If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry. You must bring the Service Request ID Number related to your inquiry to the appointment.

It looks like that none of these applies to my case. (I tend to choose 4) but it is not fully applicable to my case as I do not have a pending inquiry.)

What did you pick when you made your InfoPass appointments?

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest choose option 4

If you are CURRENT at the time of INFOPASS, and you have no updates on I-485 status, or think you are stuck in NameCheck or some other black hole, then you should choose option 4. Even if you don't have a Service Request number, you still are entitled to inquire about your case status.

In either case, you will not be welcomed with a red carpet (USCIS local offices don't enjoy these appointments very much) but you may be able to get some meaningful updates with some luck. A lot of candidates have come back from these appts. with no more information than what they had before.

If your PD is not CURRENT, then you may get a rude remark or comment from the I/O at the appt. Good luck!

Thank you

GC_TRAP,

Thank you for the response. Both of my priority date and processing date have been current long time ago. It is stuck in name check.

I have contacted my congressman and my senator. I will make an InfoPass appointment in the coming August.
