Infopass experience at Newark, NJ

I went for my infopass today (Jan 8, 2006) at Newark, NJ.

My appointment was at 7.30 am. Turns out the office opens at 7.30 am so we had to wait outside (I wonder why they insisted on a 15 min advance apprearace? (I know, I know, the question is figurative, not literal)).

Got the security check done (at the entrance, silly, not THAT security check).

Went inside and talked to a Korean immi official who could barely speak English (I idly wondered if he remembers all the sh*t he had to go thru before getting his GC/citizenship). He gave me a token number and told me to wait.

About 30 min after I entered the building, my number was called.

The guy I talked to was smart, attentive, efficient and knew what he was doing (in short, a liability to the USCIS. Either he'll leave soon or will be forced out).

He confirmed that my wife's and my namechecks are stuck with the FBI and gave me a printout titled "Fact Sheet" and highlighted one line which read "USCIS will not approve your case unless the FBI finishes the security check, no matter how long it takes". (Maybe Jack O'Lantern's signature has some merit).

The namecheck request was sent out to the FBI in May 2006.
