Infopass appointment Experience in Dallas - 7/6/2007

I had an Infopass appointment this afternoon in Dallas. The male officer told that my security check has been pending since March'2004

My wife's check has been cleared and was last worked upon July'3rd.

Did not bother to ask him about the visa number allocation. Interestingly he gave me a handout regarding the security check process and here is a blurb,

"... USCIS will never grant an immigration service or benefit before the required security checks are completed regardless of how long checks take"

So here I go an another round of waiting game.

"Security check" is not the same thing as "FBI name check". They normally do three security checks ... IBIS, ADENT, and FBI. It is theoretically possible that they could give approvals after the first two (there may be some truth that they were ignoring the FBI name checks for those that were pending too long). If they do that, it is not as if no security check was done.

Ombudsman questioned the value of the FBI name check, as the USCIS could not show any cases where the name check caught somebody who was not already caught by the other two checks. Hopefully they will drop it from the process. Or at least ignore it if it remains pending for more than 60 days.

Jackolantern --> The IO said security check is pending with the FBI. So what does this imply? Name Check?
