Direct Airside Transit:
The following national passport holders require visas to transit the United Kingdom, even if they intend only airside transit and will not pass through UK Immigration.
AFGHANISTAN, PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF CHINA, COLOMBIA, CROATIA, ECUADOR, ERITREA, ETHIOPIA, GHANA, IRAN, IRAQ, LIBYA, NIGERIA, SLOVAK REPUBLIC, SOMALIA, SRI LANKA, TURKEY, TRNC, UGANDA, YUGOSLAVIA, ZAIRE (formerly Republic of Congo), ZIMBABWE.
Only if you are one of the above passport holders, and will transit the UK airside (i.e. NY-LHR LHR-destination, and not NY-LHR LGW- destination) you should complete form IM2G and submit the following documents to this office;
If you intend to change airports in the United Kingdom you will require a visit visa.
Please submit the following documents:
(a) your valid passport
(b) one passport size photograph
(c) your confirmed tickets to, and onward from, the UK
(d) Valid US Immigration Status (Originals not copies) e.g. Permanent residence Card, H1–B Visa, Valid I-20 (NB: signed on reverse).
Payment is accepted by cash (personal applicants only), bank certified check or money order. NO PERSONAL CHECKS ACCEPTED.
The Direct Airside Transit will normally be valid for between one and up to 24 months, depending on when you plan to return to the United States, if appropriate, and frequency of travel.
