Hi Canada_Pr

I'm also thinking of applying for canadian PR. I've been gathering some info on this for quite some time now and finally making up my mind.

Regarding your questions:

1) What is the process of applying for Canadian PR under skilled worker? and how long does it take,...?

>>You need to fill out a few application forms, You can get these forms from www.cic.gc.ca and apply to the Buffalo office. It takes between 12 to 20 months. yuo should have atleast 67 points to qualify. I think you will !!

2) Do I need to have a job in Canada before I can apply for the PR?...

>>> you dont need to have a job these but your experience and education should be in field which is in their list..(I assume you are a s/w pro, so it should be fine)

3) Can I continue to work in US till the PR comes thro ?....

>> Yes, you can, Infact you can continue working even after you get your PR, (You have to land there in a certain time period though)

4) Is it that a Canadian PR can also work in US without limitations....
>> no It's not like that as far as I know. But having an approved PR doesnt bar you from working in US as long as you have a valid visa here.

I hope you got the answers.. Keep this discussion going for our mutual benefit !!

No Attorney,

The forms are fairly simple, HAving an attorney will cost you a lot in terms of mony and time. They just make you fill all the info on their formats and then you send it to them, they type it on the actual forms and send it back to you for your signatures. then you send it back to them and they file on your behalf..... and charge you $2000-$3000 for this.
You can fill yourself.. just gather all the docs required !!!

1. Education
2. Experience
3. Language test results(If you want to take one)
4. Police clearance, FBI clearance etc..
5. Birth, Marriage certificates
6. Proof of available funds (You can get it from Banks on request)
7. Photographs per specifications
8. Medical (Need to do it later when asked by CIC)

Once you have these docs, you are all set... DO you still think you need an attorney?

hi,

I need some help with the application process.....There are 3 classes. in the application ...
1) Federal skilled
2) Provincial nominees
3)Quebec Skilled workers. ?..

* What do those mean....How can one determine his category ?...

* The appl also says need test scores....I have a US masters degree and a very old toefl score report (more than 5-6 yrs old) ........Does that justify the english language requirement?....

* They ask for experience letters for both principal applicant and spouse...Will a simple letter of employment be good enough....bcos ...they may cause problems with my GC process if I say its for a PR.......Do they actually call the refernces ?....

Please give your thoughts...

Thanks
