Hi,
My wife and I got our 485s approved last year. We got I-551 stamping done in March 2004. I have received my plastic card in April 2004. But my wife never received the card so far. We called USCIS several times, they registered case for this but there is no progress so far. As my wife's I551 stamp is expiring in March of this year I would like to know the process involved in getting another I-551 stamp in her passport. We only have photocopies of courtesy copies of 485 approvals. Is that enough?

thanks for your input on this,
-Ramesh

The stamp in her passport is proof of permanent legal residency, so that is hopefully enough. You never know with the USCIS, though. Bring in all your documentation. It might help to bring your green card and marriage certificate too, just in case. Try to go in before the stamp expires so she still has that as valid proof as well.

---------- file the Form G-731, - (Inquiry About Status of I-551 Alien
Registration Card with service center)

----- that is enough becase she has passport stamp, she can go to local USCIS office and can get new Stamp for 1 year validity. take the infopass then visit local USCIS office. I am not sure how many months/days advance of Stamp expiry date they stamp the passport with New Stamp, just ask the I-800 and also update the others the info you get from them.
