Hey guys, just wondering what is needed when attending the medical, is it necessary to have previous medical history and vaccination details etc?

It's useful if you have a vaccination record but not a problem if you've lost it. The doctor will talk to you about your history. We didn't take any docs except our children's vaccination records.

Ask the medical center where you are taking your examinations, thet should be able to inform you. You can call them and ask them. I did so. They even had in the web site specific instructions.

Susie are you Australian?

No

The medical centers all over deal with thousands of adults who have lost vaccination records over the years. All they do is re-vaccinate you to make sure you're protected against what's necessary.

Yes,

They will re-vaccinate you, and most certainly, they will charge you. I didn't have a vaccionation record, so I went to my doctor and they took some blood in order to know for what diseases I have immunization. My medical insurance covered that, so I hope I will save some money in vaccines I can demostrate I don't need.

Trim79,

I'm going to have my medicals soon but instead of paying a lot to certified surgeon, I'm planning to have my vaccinations somewhere else where my insurance covers them. Can you tell me which vaccinations are required? I am 31 years old.

I have a list, but it's in Spanish. I think that the list posted by Tazmania is pretty complete, but if I were you, I'd call the medical center where you'll have the medical examination and ask for a complete list.

I had MMR, chickenpox and tdap.
Did you have flu shot too?

I guess depends on your country and insurance - our medical insurance covered ours done at the panel doctor, in fact they covered just over half of the total bill (of which the vaccinations were not a large part).

Costs aside, it's a good thing getting our vaccinations up to date. Far too many outbreaks lately due to anti-vax propaganda & hysteria. I'd hate to be the cause of some poor baby's misery or death due to pertussis because I wasn't up to date.
