Individual Hearing in 1 year and a half :((

We just had a Master Hearing and IJ gave us the notice to appear for the Individual Hearing on July, 2010..OMG!!!! So long!!! Did anyone have the same situation? Can I send them a letter with the request for earlier date? I heard its possible...And what reason could be better to mention?
 
It is not uncommon for this to happen. Immigration courts in some places are dealing with a crushing demand.
 
I guess it means that in some districts Immigration Courts are much more loaded than in others. Which state are you in?
 
Chicago, Illinois..well you mean if I transfer the case ill have a chance to have the Hearing earlier..?
Im worrying because my parents are old, my mom is sick...Im originally from Russia, my husband is from Belarus (asylum from there)...

I assume you can transfer your case only if you move with your husband to another state. Sorry to hear...
 
Our attorney said we have a chance for earlier date...I hope...

I transferred my case to NY, had a master hearing Feb 2008, Individual hearing Jan 2009 - almost a year
