HI

I was born in India but later took Australian citizenship. I want to go for consular processing. Which country am I entitled to go for consular processing - India or Australia or is the choice mine where I can go?

If anyone of you have similar experience, would like to hear from you.
Thanks

Do your CP in Australia

I am Indian born, Australian citizen (for many years), I have opted for CP in Australia. I have family and a place to live in Australia. Australia may be easier, but if you have family in India, that might be better.

The choice is yours.

Do in Australia - less hassles

I too am Indian born but doing CP in Australia because it is much simpler and less of an hassle there. I know a few others in a similar situation who are in the Australian CP pipe line. Some of the reports on Australia CP experiences indicate that at times there was just one immigrant visa interview on a given day. So the pace of things seems much more relaxed and not rushed through. If nothing you will enjoy the view of the Sydney harbor from the top floors of the MLC building!

Thanks for replying.
You remind me of good old days I used to spend at Circular Quay/ Darling Harbor/ and the marvellous beaches. I am tempted to go there. But I have most of family in India so a trip to India would be better. Am still thinking what to do!!!

But thanks for clarifing things. Someone had told me that you must go to the country of birth for CP (even though you might have taken citizenship of some other country). Obviously not correct.

Let\'s a few of us in the same boat (India born Australian citizen doing CP in Australia) keep in touch with each other.

aussies

There are very few employment based Australians in the GC process. Most are in the K1 or diversity visa lottery category. BTW, have you got your Indian PCC? I had applied for one and it got cleared today. I did not have to send my aussie passport because they do stamping only on Indian Passports. I am doing CP in Oz, because my family is still there. Can get away from the US summer for some what cooler temperatures.

doing CP in Sydney

I finally decided to go for CP in Sydney. Now I am starting to collect all the papers. I have not got my PCC yet. You have to get PCC from both India and Australia. How did you go about getting PCC from India? If you need info about getting PCC from Australia, let me know. I helped a friend last year who wanted PCC from Australia.

Also I don\'t have Birth Certificate? Do you know what other doc we can provide in its place.
