Independent Contractor and AC21>180 days

I got laid off recently. My case is >180 days. I can take up a job as an independent contractor (this will be my only job). The title and duties will be similar to my previous job (the one LC was based on). When my I-485 interview comes up, will I have any problems? I think being an independent contractor is like having own company. Am I right?
 
Without implementing regulations for AC21, who knows

In a normal GC (where an LC is required) self employment will not support a GC since there is no job offer that is available to qualified US workers. Whether this restriction will be reflected in the implementing regulations for I-485 portability under AC21 is anyone\'s guess.
