Increasing the Fee meant nothing !

After reading some threads because I am trying to stay awake (just kidding) I realized even with the Fee increase which was supposed to get more staff to help speed things up didn't mean anything.
Think about it. They increased the Fee but right before soooooooooo many people sent in their N-400 and other things such as GC Applications to avoid the Fee Increase so MAYBE they got more staff with the Fee Increase but they also have no much more applicants.

Most of the pending cases were sent in BEFORE the fee increase, so they don't have the extra funds to apply more resources to them.

Don't want to sound pessimistic, but I think this is going to be the sequence of events.

They announced the fee increase saying it would help modernize USCIS and speed up processing. That led to a large increase of applications before the fee increase. USCIS is going to take a year and a half or more to clean the mess, by then they will say that all the money that was supposed to go to modernization was actually spent trying to clear the backlog (overtime, contractors, and what not). They will claim that all their energy was focused in the day by day dealing with the large backlog. Then three years down the road after the fee increase they will try the same trick again, and nothing will have changed :(

Exactly. I've mentioned this before, but if you look at the past trends, there's always been a fee increase every 3-4 years. By the time they are done clearing the current mess, it'll be time for another fee hike, which will result in another rush of applications. Needless to say, there will be another backlog. This is a cycle that keeps perpetuating itself.

They are so stupid or did they do it knowingly... I am sure they must have thought about pros and cons... how can they not expect millions that would file hearing the massive increase???? I guess they do not plan about anything just do whatever they think is rite. They thought they needed some funds, they increased the fees and gave the reasons that they will handle everything efficiently by modernizing... what did they modernize - online address change and online labor filing ...
