Incorrect Name on Birth Certificate

Hi,

I got an RFE on Birth certificate...I contacted the municipality of my birth place and noticed that my FIRST NAME was registered as some other name. Rest of the details are same (parents name/DOC etc...)

I never legally changed name and have been using my current name since class 1.
I never knew that my birth was registered with a different name.

Please help. what should be the correct process of getting a birth certificate now?

The municiaplity will only give the BC with incorrect name on the record.

What country are you from? I guess you will have to contact that municipality about changing the name on your BC and get the correct name. What name do you have on your passport?
 
This is for India.

I checked and they are saying that it will take3-4 months to correct this.


Everywhere else including passport is my correct current name with which I filed the application forms.
Only on Birth certificate it was registered as different name and never got corrected.

Please advise. Any suggestions would be really helpful.
 
Can you get a letter from them stating that you are the person named on the birth certificate and have it notarized? At the same time, ask them to start the process of changing your name, even if it takes 3-4 months maybe you will be able to get it by the time you get called for an interview. In the meanwhile, you can just send the notarized letter they will give you that confirms that you are the person named on the other birth certificate.
 
The municipal corporatoin are not giving any letter since they are saying that they registered the birth correctly, with whatever information was given to them.
How do I respond to the RFE now?
