If there is such inconsistency, will there be any problems at POE? Sometimes the officer doesn't even take a look at the front page of passport before stamping, but just to be safe, it is better to put a note on the passport with the name on GC?

Depends on what kind of inconsistency there is. It woudl be better to elobrate on that for reasonable response.

Name change on passport

Spouse's name changed in passport to husband's name but gc shows maiden name. Will it create problem while re-entering US at poe? I understand that we have to apply I-90 to change the name later in gc,but it takes time. So what to do if to travel before getting the new gc? If we carry the old passport it would show wife's maiden name. Will it help?
Any experience , help is appreciated.
Thanks..

Thanks Joef.

The person can carry to passports one showing maiden name the other husband's last name. Still stamping is needed?
Can get the I-551 stamp on the new passport before applying for I-90? or stamping can be done only after applying I-90 for the name change.
For applying I-90 to get a new gc do we need to do fingerprinting again?
Can I-90 be applied at outside country consulate to get a new gc?
Thanks.. and any help is appreciated.

My problem is that my wifes last and first names are reversed. What should I do. I am expecting the card next week. The card was ordered last week.

When I went for stamping, I brought the discrepency to the notice of the officer in charge but she said that this should not cause any problems, and that the only way to correct this was to wait to get the card and then file for a correction. She mentioned also, that since it was their mistake, they would not charge for a correction.

I hope this does not cause any problems at POE. We already have a SS card with names reversed. The tax returns also had to be filed with last and first names reversed. Most likely the DL will also be reversed. This is getting quite annoying.

As for the correction process, how long does it take to do the correction. (I understand that you have to file an I-90 in person, is this correct) Do they take the incorrect card during the process. Anybody with experience in these matters, please help with insight.

Middle name

I have a related problem. My GC does not have my middle name, my pass port and birth certificates do. How do I get this corrected ? Is there a form available , and any idea how long it takes?

go to nearest INS local office with your birth certificate and original GC with passport and I90. they will send out a new card with correction and will stamp the passport with temp I551 stamp for a year.

---one of my friend has the same problem on his Card, on his last trip he asked POE officer at Newark if he should get Card corrected with middle name the officer told him it is up to him to do and they dont have any problems they just look at photographs and check your A# and you have fingerprint also on GC ( please remember POE officer is not Immigration officer)
How do I get this corrected ?
----- go to USCIS site take the printout of form I-90, fill up the form, get two passport style photographs and then take infopass for your Local USCIS office, go to Local USCIS office, point out the mistake or what correction you need they will correct it in USCIS National computer system and they will take your fingerprints on white form, attach two photographs to form and will send it to card production unit, you have to pay $ 185 as fees( if it is mistake of USCIS then no fees)
Is there a form available ,
----I-90
and any idea how long it takes?
----- one person who corrected with Newark NJ got his new card in 35 days, I remember reading other person posting in some other site that it took him 3 months to get new Card.
*** when you go to Local USCIS office take your Driving Licence or state ID, your passport , BC or affidevits of Birth that you submited with I-485 if possible take the I-485 filing reciept or approval notice. Provide Only what they ask
____ I think they will take back your incorrect Card

thanks for the tips. I will get the middle name added. I have travelled out of the USthrice in the past 20 months and the absence of my middle name on the GC has never been an issue. However, I think it may delay my citizenship application and therefore I am going to get it corrected.
