My In-laws are Indian citizens but are staying in Nigeria, as my father-in-law works there for the past one year, as permanant residents. Their other daughter (my wife's sister) is now pregnant and wants to invite her parents to USA. My in-laws are leaving to India from Nigeria this month end and have visa appointment next month. I have the following questions.
1. I heard from somewhere that to apply for visitor visa a person has to stay in their home country for atleast six months prior to the appointment. In my in-law's case is this going to be a problem, as their stay in India will only be one month before the visa appointment?
2. Both of my in-law's children are in USA, is that going to be an issue?
3. Can we mention pregnancy as the main reason for the intention to visit USA?
4. Is it a better option to let only my mother-in-law appear for the interview and let my father-in-law take visa appointment later.

Any information in this regard is appreciated.

A1: Visas should be applied from one's country of normal residence. However since your in-laws will be applying from their country of citizenship, their applicants will be entertained. I would have however advised them to apply in Nigeria since they live there.
A2: Could be an issue. A lot would depend on the immigration status of both their daughters.
A3: You can mention it. It may help in their visa success, but it also has the potential to backfire.
A4: Some folks try that approach too. No success is guaranteed either way.
