Hello folks, I am new to this forum. Everything looks very informative here.

I am trying to change my venue. I have a master hearing sometimes next week. I would like to change my venue to different state because i could not afford an attorney. How would i do it? I have heard of writing a letter to the judge but can someone please advise me of the format of such letter?

Please know that i only have 4 working days left before my master hearing. So please please please help.

You need to file a written Motion to change venue. The motion should be filed with a cover page labeled “MOTION TO CHANGE VENUE”

The motion should contain the following information:
- the date and time of the next scheduled hearing
- an admission or denial of the factual allegations and charge(s) in the Notice to Appear (Form I-862)
- a designation or refusal to designate a country of removal
- if the alien will be requesting relief from removal, a description of the basis for eligibility
- the address and telephone number of the location at which respondent will be residing if the motion is granted
- if the address at which the alien is receiving mail has changed, a properly completed Alien’s Change of Address Form (Form EOIR-33/IC)
- a detailed explanation of the reasons for the request.

I will caution you that you need to have a really good reason for it to be granted. Not being able to afford an attorney does not sound like a good reason to me. Are you moving to a new state?

Also Make sure you serve DHS attorney your motion. Why did it take you so long to decide on changing venues?

hey bounty and ALL,

What are the acceptable reasons for a change of venue? Is working and moving to other state considered as valid and good reason? My friend's IJ is a killer with a denial rate of more than 90%.
