IN A HURRY!!!!! Travel or not with expired f1 visa but valid i-20

I am an international student. I am planning to go back to my home country to visit in June but my F1 visa will be expired in 18 May and my I-20 is still valid until 2018. Do I need to renew it?? If yes, how long does it take?? I am in a hurry now, plz help me! Thanks to all
 
you have to renew it once you get back home. you can leave the us even if visa is expired no a big deal.
make sure it is signed by the school advisor BEFORE you leave.
otherwise you wont be able to renew your visa.
usually, it is not hard to renew, sometimes you even leave the passport at the embassy and pick up in the afternoon (no interview)

Thanks a lot for your reply. Hmm.. What does the school advisor need to sign? The visa?
 
the I -20. I am a little disapointed that you havent been given all the info at orientation session. Or may be you didnt pay attention.
