Hello,

Soon I am going to my Interview for (Citizenship)
and i would like to ask some questions and i hope to find a clear answers.

Now, I am applying for my Citizenship on a based of marriage to a USC.

1- When filing under spouse of USC. (3 Years rule) What questions you expect to be asked during the Interview ?

2- If you made a mistake while u were filling the N-400 application. but u caught it late. Can u still disclose it with the IO (Interviewer) ? on the Interview ? If Yes.. it Should be disclose BEFORE you raise your hand or AFTER ??? <=== Importent question please.

3- I sent (3 Years) Joint Transcript and i am going to take the copy i recieved from the IRS with me. but the question is.. Do i have to make a copy of my tax return too ? or Transcript should be enough???

4- Now i read somewhere this question was asked ---> Why do you want to be a citizen? what would u answer??

last question for tonight. Any advice would you like to share it before interview? or questions it might come during the interview?

Interview will be In Chula Vista Field office. San Diego.

Thank you so much for ur help.

1. This can vary depending on who interviews you. Just be prepared to answer any questions about your marriage. You should take every single document that pertains to your marriage with you in case you get asked for anything (marriage certificate, birth certificates of kids if applicable, lease/mortgage, joint bank statements, etc.).

2. Can you be more specific what your mistake on the N-400 was? You can take a correct N-400 page with you to the interview and give it to the IO or the IO can make the correction in your original N-400 form and initial it off. Again, depends on what the error was.

3. When I went for my interview, I took tax transcripts and my tax returns as well. I think I had five years' worth of them.

4. This seems like a silly question to ask. Have you asked yourself why you want to become a citizen? Your spouse is one, maybe you want to become one too and live the rest of your life here? You need to answer this question based on your legitimate reasons, not some stock answers.

My advice is to prepare for your interview properly. Review your N-400 submission and make sure you know what you submitted and are able to talk to any of that information (you do want to correct whatever it was you submitted in error). Get all your documents in order and organize them in a folder and know exactly where everything is. Dress professionally for the interview and talk with confidence. Answer clearly only to the questions being asked and do not volunteer more than that. Good luck!

How long you've been married, where were you married, how long you've been living together as well as providing evidence of this. IOs can ask anything pertinent to your marriage and application so it's impossible to say what your IO will exactly ask about marriage.[/QUOTE]

Update it during the questioning part.

Tax transcript is sufficient. No need for tax return.
4- Now i read somewhere this question was asked ---> Why do you want to be a citizen? what would u answer??
It's a personal question so answer accordingly. Example would be the US is my home now, or I want to become citizen in order to be eligible for government jobs.

The IO will converse with you and ask you questions as part of the process. Just be calm, collective, and answer honestly and you'll do fine.

Hi, Thank you so much guys

the mistake i have had done. when i filled my application, and on Good Moral C. on question number 16, i had to check it because i have 1 speeding ticket. i have no problem with that. but in the last column i wrote NO CHARGES FILED. because i wasn't required to appear to court, this is the only thing i did, i should wrote (FINE) and paid for .. and the fine was under $500. i made an infopass to ask the IQ. what should to write there and i spoke to 2 IO's and i was told to write NO CHARGES FILED, but later i found out i should put FINE.

Thank you.

As long as you are not convicted and not asked to appear in court, you should be OK. The IO's have the authority to make changes to your application at the time of interview. Just let them know that it was a minor ticket and I've paid the ticket in FULL.
I've read on some other threads that the IO doesn't care about speeding tickets.

Thank you so much. but by getting FINE for a speeding ticket isn't mean "convicted" ??

2 more things. "what about work? i have never worked since i arrived to U.S.A . do you think it will be an issue during the interview? we file joint taxes. joint bank account. and other joint bills.

Do you believe age can be an issue too???

Thank you so much.

Minor traffic tickets are not an issue for naturalization. Stop worrying about the details on how you should have disclosed it since the IO will update the application once you clarify the traffic ticket at interview.

Being without work is not an issue. You should expect to answer how you supported yourself all this time (ex:housewife).

Traffic tickets have been debated to high heaven. Some believe they should be disclosed on the form, others not at all unless above $500 fine. Anyway, when you go to the interview carry evidence of having paid the fine and you can mention it there. For not working, public charge is not a criteria at the citizenship stage. For green card, yes, but not for citizenship. I don't see any question on the form that asks for income, assets, liabilities etc. Do post your experience after your interview for the benefit of others to follow. That is what a community form is all about.
