Can somebody tell me if filing for bankruptcy will affect change of status (I'm on F1 category, unmarried over 21 son of USC). Can this be a reason for denial of green card??

Thanks in advance for your help!!

What is your current immigration status? Whose bankruptcy is it -- yours, or the USC parent who is sponsoring you?

Your own bankruptcy doesn't matter, as long as you don't become a public charge or be illegally present in the US.

Thank you Jack, how about if my USC parent does get bankruptcy?? She is not likely going to do the affidavit of support since she's barely working part time....

The relative who filed the petition must also file an Affidavit of Support, regardless of their income. If the petitioner's income is insufficient, somebody else has to join her as a co/joint sponsor, filing I-864A or I-864 in addition to the I-864 filed by the parent who petitioned for you.
