Hello guys,

I have a question regarding the way my name appears on my I485.
Normally the name appears as Firstname Middlename Lastname. But I don't have a middle name. And my Passport reads my name as "Given name" & not categorised as "Firstname Middlename". As my First name is a big one, my passport has it with a space between the first half of my Firstname & the second half of my Firstname.

As an example: suppose the name is "Sankalpaswami Sarkar" .
My passport has my name in written under the header Given name as "Sankalpa Swami". *** Note the space ***.

So as a natural progression of the passport name all my papers here have my first name as "Sankalpa" & Middle name as "Swami"

Is it an issue now that my I485 has been applied with the name as "Sankalpaswami". Is there anybody out there with a similar issue & is this anything to be concerned about. May be not I think...

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

First of all Don't worry. you are not first person who are confused with name written issue.

Here what you should do first.

First thing First. Choose your First Name, Middle Name, Last Name you want to see on your documents. once you decided. then folllow steps.

suppose.

First Name, Saleem
Middle Name: Tahir Ul Zaman
Last Name Taalwala

Do you have your ID or Driving Lic?
if your above (assumed)name match in ID and LIcense. they usualy use Middle Initial so don't worry about any spaces blah blah.

if this is wrong in last name "Zaman" instead of "Tallwala" it should be corrected in ID and LIc first. you should written correct spelling don't worry spaces.
Get long stroy short. you don't need to panic. check and match all previous petttions ..... how your name was written . ask ur attorney for copy of pettitons.

if you found that all pettition have same name (don't worry about spaces). then don't make changes in name sudden. let ur GC come u do have correction option or name change option. (but not recommended).

If u think that name is totaly wrong and u are not satisfy what is written then you need to prepare an affidavit with some supporting document like passport your univirsity degree etc.that my correct name is this.... and in pettition it is written or spelled wrong .

I know this is painfull situation but it can be corrected. attorney is best person to let you know exact procedure.

but again DO NOT PANIC .......... be relax........ u have do nothing wrong its mistake and can be corrected after follow the procedure.

smile :)

Good Luck
