Hi folks,
I am travelling to Canada this weekend. I will be using AP. I had changed jobs after 485 filing, and my lawyer filed for AC-21 papers. I just want to be sure of all the documents that are needed for re-rentry. I am writing down a list, just add or delete
docs from the list based on your experience:

1. Passport
2. Valid AP originals
3. EAD original card
4. I-485 receipt notice
5. I-140 receipt
6. Employment verification letter from present employer
7. AC-21 papers (what are they???)

Your response and help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
gcnotez.

List is very comprehensive! I think it sums up all the documents very well.

I would add a couple of paystubbs as an extreme measure. Just in case, kind of thing. Also a list of contact information with your manager, HR contact etc. in case the immigration officer wants to talk to them.

Only passport and valid AP are required for re-entry. All other documents are just for (imaginary) peace of mind.

Thanks

Hi folks,
Thanks for the responses. I will take some paystubs too, what the heck :) Anything that buys you peace of mind.

paystub strongly suggested

I strongly suggest to bring the two most recent paystubs.
Some time ago while coming back from a biz trip, the immigration officer (I do not remmebr if it was SFO or San Jose) made it difficult for me just because I did not have them with me.
Maybe it was just one of her bad days ....but since then I always bring 2 of the most recent paystubs with me.

forgot...

as I was travelling a lot outside US I got some experience (and statistics number).
I was never asked to show my EAD card, nor the original I131 paper, nor the I-485 receipt, nor the I-140 receipt. Just the AP and passport...and of course the pay stubs.

BUT THE ABOVE IS ONLY STATISTIC! and worked for me (let's say 20 times).

Now I am not traveling anymore thanks to the abysmal time to get AP renewed!!!!
