important INS news release on asylees

Of course it does. More than 90% of the pre 02/99 appplicants that I know of have received their approvals.

:D I can`t wait until they tackle on my file. I just wonder why they are taking so long.

this web site says that all asylees who filed for their adjustment to permenant residency before or on feb 1, 1999 should contact the INS if no decision was reached on their applications. They have a hotline now for people like sessanga and irina and annv and alanpero whose files have been mishandled by the inept workers of INS. Hope things work finally

Thanks Gibert, My wife's application notice date on Jan 11 1999 and fingure prints were on10/04/2002 after that no word from BCIS. On line message says taking 485 days or whatever she called the number BCIS provided dame message there. She is deriative relative,I was the main applicant. Please share if somebody have same experince.
Thanks

Call the number and talked first to the customer service than they transfered me to the officer. They were nice and sympathetic, but not helpful. Tp;d me one more time about cap, did not know anything about February 1, 1999 deadline and suggested to send a letter to Nebraska(again). I give up...

I guess this announcement resembles the one they had last year about those who apply on or before june 9th 1998. The reason behind making this announcement was to appease those who had filed a lawsuit against them as of last year. So, this whole thing is a big game and ofcourse their workers know nothing about what is going on. This incompetent organization is so corrupt and fake. i would not give up though. I suggest you contact the AILA that filed the asylee lawsuit against the INS and se if they have any information. Good luck

You 're not gonna get any response from nebraska if you send em a letter .It's just a waste of stamps and envelope .Talking to them won't help either .You'll to talk to a dump officer who tell all kind of craps that we already know .I called nebraska a month ago but i haven't heard anything new .I applied for my i485 in january 9th1999.did my FP in sep 10th 2002 since that nothing.
We all are in their mercy.

Abrama,

MY I-485 was received in Mar 99
Did my FP in APRIL 2003

My application is about two months and FP is about 8 months after you. Hopefully when the new year quota becomes available in October then some of us get to move forward in this process.

Keep us posted with your experience...

Hello everyone. I called the Nebraska number recently. The lady that took my call told me that my case was "being worked upon" and that I should hear back from them within a month or so. This was the first time that I got such an answer and the first time, that they did not quote the "10,000 visa limit" logic. So hopefully, things are moving.
I also wrote to them a few weeks ago but have not received any response to the letter so far. What I have seen so far (this is my personal opinion) is that writing letters to the Nebraska Service Center usually acts as a catalyst and speeds things up (obviously, only if your case is due to be acted upon) even though you might not receive a response to the letter. The same happened to me when I send them a letter asking why I was not being called for fingerprinting.
Good Luck!

Summary:
Applied for I-485 in Dec-98
Fingerprinting: Feb-2003

that phone is still in service.

The number is not in service at all. It's kind of missleading. Check it and post again if still working. I called both days - Monday and Tuesday (June 9, 10, 2003). The number has been changed to 1 (800)....

:(

My receipt date - January 9, 1999,
Fingerprints - September 2002.
No anything after that.
I had sent letter to Congressmen in January this year - his helper called me back advising to wait (she got this advise from INS).
I called general INS phone # 2 days ago, they took my info and did, as they say, my status reguest to Nebraska, answer has to come in 3-4 weeks. I am desparate already, but I feel I have to write to them, to bug them somehow, so maybe it will remind them about my case...
