Hi, guys:
one of my friend just sent me a PDF file. It\'s about "INS I485 Standard Operating Procedure", 269 pages stating processing procedures from MAILROOM to ADJUSTCATION, very detailed.
I brief on one of the section about FBI fingerprints for everyone to judge if it is a real INS docs or someone faked it !!!
If a lot of people interest in it, I can send this PDF to CIBA for him to put on his website for everyone to download it.....or everyone has it already, I am the last one got this document ?????

On page 166:
FBI Fingerprint Response

At the time of adjudication, the file will contain a screen print of either FBI Query or the CLAIMS-based MRD Fingerprint Tracking System to indicate the present status of the fingerprint checks. Fingerprints may be requested prior to relocation according to local policy. The response is valid for 15 months from the date the FBI processed the fingerprints.

A definitive response from the FBI regarding fingerprint clearances is
required before the application can be approved or transferred to the local
office for interview. The chart below will assist you in determining how the case should be handled based on the response received from the FBI.

=====IF the printout shows=====
The FBI response description as NON-IDENT
========THEN can========
Continue processing the I-485 as the fingerprints have cleared.

=========================================================================
=====IF the printout shows=====
The FBI response description as IDENT
========THEN can========
Relocate the file once all other evidence is contained in the record
, as the applicant must be interviewed. A rap sheet must be included in the file before relocation. If not, send the file to the appropriate POC.
=========================================================================
=====IF the printout shows=====
The FBI has REJECTED two sets of prints for any reason
========THEN can========
Relocate the file once all other evidence is contained in the record,
as the District Office will have to adjudicate this case.
=========================================================================

Abandonment Denials for Fingerprints

Applicants who do not appear at the ASC for fingerprinting within the time
frame allowed them will be denied as we consider this an abandonment of
their application for failure to appear. If you encounter a case that has been previously scheduled and 120 days have lapsed since the first day they were scheduled, you must prepare an abandonment denial.

Reviewing Evidence

The officer is responsible for reviewing all initial evidence to determine if it meets the standard for acceptability and that each documentary equirement has been submitted. This section lists the acceptable types of initial evidence required in the adjudication of Form I-485.
Regardless of whether the I-485 is to be adjudicated to completion at the
Service Center or relocated to another office, the record of proceeding must be complete. If the evidence is missing, the officer must prepare a RFE.
Remember, each piece of evidence must meet the standard of acceptability as
noted. If for any reason the evidence is deemed to be unacceptable, the
officer must prepare an RFE for acceptable evidence.
The I-485 Adjudications Checklist, included as part of the processing
worksheet, must be completed by the adjudicating officer for every I-485
adjudicated.

this detailed documents were released I think on 2nd oct-2001.it was first published on "oh law firm" and Mr.khanna\'s web site . and I was the first one who provided the link to this pdf.file in this forum.
but at that time there were very few people who may have browse thru this pdf.doc

 this document shows all detailed info how all INS service centers process I-485 related cases.

   not to exaggerating but I have printed all 269 pages and gone throught this whole document. it was very interesting knowing how service center process all cases. why some cases takes longer or get delayed then others

Guys, I\'m amazed by your enthuisasm ...

But, what did you plan to get out of the documents?

The actual processing of an I485 case I have been told is
relatively quick (gets done in at most a few hours).

The problem is getting to the adjudicators desk.
Also INS has lots of policies/guidelines that they
don\'t follow. They don\'t even process cases in the
ND order which they are supposed to!

I just fear you could waste a lot of time which could
be better spent.
