Importance of Priority Date

Folks,

Is PD the date in which you filed you LC . What is the Importance of PD over your ND and RD . I thought for 485 and 140 we just need to look at the current processing dates . For example , I had filed in the month of Nov and currently VSC is processing June of 03 . We need to be looking at just these dates right ??
I am not even sure when my LC was applied .

Could anyone through some light on this one.

Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that the PD is only important in labor substitution cases (where you use someone else's previously filed labor) in which case your RD "becomes" your LC PD.

The PD will also become important if you are from India, China or the Philippines and EB3 and if the priority dates retrogress (search the I-485 forum for more details).

Hi Here are my details: Can anyone help me the clarification about priority dates in my case and when can expect my 485 approval.

My I-140 filing date was 11/01/2002 with some ones approved labor( labor substitution. that labor priority date is showing as March 02, 2001). After receving the I-140 receipt notice (in the receipt notice of I-140 the priority date is blank) my attorney filed my I-485 in December 2002( RD 12/19/2002 and ND 01/21/2003 ).

My I-140 approved on 10/23/2003 (in I-140 approval the Prioridy date is showing as March 02, 2001 which is the labor priority date).

FP1 done on 02/25/2002
FP2 done on 11/10/2004 (FP2 actually scheduled for 08/04/2004, but my attorney requested for rescheduling since I was out of country at that time and they rescheduled for 11/10/2004)
