Importance of Job title?

Hello all,

I recently started my GC process. The advertising phase is done and though I already have a PhD the application was filed with minimum requirement as a Bachelors degree. (I had a Masters and defended my disseration before I started work.) However the minimum requirement puts me under EB3 category.

The argument he gave was the someone else had been hired by my company with the same job title but did not have a Masters. No one else I know currently has been in this position without a Masters.

Any one else had a similar experience?

What are my options to "re-petition" later so as to qualify as EB2 without starting from scratch?

If thats not possible, if I convice my boss to push for a slightly different Job title can I re-apply?

Or is my only option to get under a EB2 to change companies/jobs?

Any help is appreciated!

If you already have a PhD degree, why don't you become a professor (may be there is a personal reason for not going that route, but just wanted to ask anyway)? Professor requires PhD and may be you can process your application faster with immigration department. I am not an expert in this issue. It is just an idea.

What's your PhD in? I am thinking about pursuing a PhD myself.
