Implications of applying for H1B

Hi friends,

I am currently on H1B and my wife is on H4.

One accounting company is considering to apply for my wife's H1.
If her H1B gets approved, I know she can start working.

However, if her H1B is denied,what will happen to her H4?
What will be the implications?

Our I-94s expire in June 2004.

If her H1b is denied, she will continue to be in her previous status, i.e. H4.
 
One more question in this case:

what if the H1 gets approved and after say 3-4 months, my wife gets laid off.

Will she be out of status? Any other implications?

Yes, she will be out of (H1B) status. If that happens she should file for H4 immediately.
