I don’t think it’s going to create any impact. In fact it’s good for legal immigrants like us.

Yes, I think CIR failing will be good for legal immigrants. Just imagine millions of application pouring in for adjudication, name check, etc. USCIS will be buried in Files... I am not against illegals, I think everyone should get GC. But setting a systematic approach and FIFO should be honored.

I am against illegals...I have directly suffered because of their April 2001 amnesty. Legal immigrants have paid taxes, fees after fees, stood for hours in countless lines, countless times, followed every whim of the lawmakers and USCIS and every unjustified fee increase. And they still get away easily every time they break the law. Oh yes, I am against illegals.

No

Thanks Magic_mail. Our cases are close, except yours is direct TSC file. I am hoping to hear something back from CIS before June 15th. Good luck

And yes I do not support the illegal immigrants, not only they are breaking the law and coming into this country but also sucking the system and taking advantages at the cost of tax payers money. You and I are at least chipping in to the system though there is no guarantee that we can benefit from it at the end (social security and other). But we love this country want to be part of it but can’t even pass this GC stage and don’t even go close to citizenship. I am very happy to see the bill didn’t go through…sad news for the illegal immigrates but they illegal period.

In my opinion, the bill that didn`t go through yet is good for the Nation and not for the Illegals at all. What could be worst, get a temporary card, pay taxes and still have to leave the country soon.

This is funny. When retrogression was in full effect people were hoping and praying for CIR to pass into law. Now that their PD is current, CIR is a bad thing. As banta4gc would say, HEE HEE!

What gb04 says.

It was so frustrating that throughout this whole immigration debate legal immigrant applicants were (and still are) "taken hostage of" by the illegal issue, but many of us accepted it because we knew our problems would never be addressed separately given the way things were going in Washington, and because last year we knew the CSR (2006 version) would be good for us. We could reasonably hope it would be better than nothing anyway.

I couldn't believe they could possibly come up with a worse-than-nothing bill this time around.

And, the threat of retro is not gone. People are not saying 2007 CIR is bad because many have become current this month. They are saying it is bad because it is bad.

If there's any impact... the NY Times runs an article about it, and at the end of it a quote goes

He said the Senate debate was not “just stirring up the hornet’s nest, but is actually changing the dynamics of this issue for the future.”

Since we are still hostages of the illegals issue, I fear OUR issue would be neglected for years to come as a result. The legal immigrants issue alone sure lacks sorta "oomph" for the media and Washington, compared to the illegals'.

This is very frustrating.

That's because this CIR bill is different from the last one. It doesn't help legal immigrants at all. Why? http://www.aila.org/content/default.aspx?docid=22481

Honestly, the CIR bill is nothing but making 12 mil illegal immigrants in to legal, nothing about those who came to America legally waiting patiently paying all the dues!!!. There may be several political reasons for both left and right wings which I am not even going to touch. Basically they are giving a reward for those breaking the law!!! Whereas people like you and I are still waiting at the mercy of CIS while continue to pay for EAD renewals, paying our income tax, property tax and school tax and last two years I even had to pay extra tax for the road and bridge construction!!!. I am sure all of you find in the same situation. And guess who is going to use and abuse it apart from you and I….those illegal’s without insurance and without a license. These individual even got a nerve to come out in public holding Mexican flags and announcing they came in to this country illegally and they are very proud of it. I am not big fan of Lou Dobb’s but I can only imagine what he feels like having born in this country seeing these illegal’s protesting with American flag upside down

You should not be against illegals. You should be against these political baffoons and backstabbers who talks and talks and talks against illegal immigrants and when it comes to DO SOMETHING, screwing up legals and helping the illegals.

Most of these illegals are dirt poor people trying to make living.

I agree with you guys. Talented legal people (EB1-EB3) should be given #1 priority.
Illegals and family based immigration are really a burden to US social security and tax-payers..

Jack, Illegal's are for sure a Ding to the system while left and right wings continue to twist their tongs but I don't think we can scrutinize the family based immigration. They do go through the paper work and pay taxes

Cheers
