What happens if one doesn' t have his/her immunization records?
Does one have to retake all the shots?
How is this handled

It depends on the doctor examining you. If you have no record
of any immunizations, you might get 2-3 vaccinations ( in India).

It helps if you go to your doctor here in the US and get your blood tested for immunity.

Could you explain me in little more detail how to get the blood tested for immunity, do we need to go to our family doctor or to some body else, could u shed us some light on this

THis is a standard test at all hospitals. Your doctor/medical practitioner can help you with this. There may be a fee involved.
The requirements are listed in dept of state's website under "vaccination requirements for immigrant visa applicants".
take this list to your doctor.
