Immigration

Hi,

I immigrated to the USA through my husband who was in the Forces about 20 years ago. I stayed in the USA with my two children for 6 months. My husband became abusive so I had to flea the country without notifying any authorities. 20 years later my Daughter has moved to the USA and I want to move back to be close to her, I'm also in contact with my X Husband and would like to be near them both. My question is, Can I re-enter based on me immigrating 20 years ago. Do the authorities still think I live in the US as I never informed anyone of me leaving as I couldn't inform anyone! I'm just looking for the best and easiest way to be able to Move back to the USA.

Any remarks would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Nanna

If yes you should apply for re-entry permit.
That's incorrect. You cannot do a re-entry permit without a valid GC. I am sure yours would have expired, plus abandoned over 19 years ago.

If your daughter is a USC she can sponsor you again for a GC. I dont know the ramifications of an abandoned GC for a new GC.

He was so terribly abusive that you had to leave the country, but now you want to be close to him again?

Anyway, if your daughter is a US citizen you can have her sponsor you (provided she is 21 or older and meets the income and other requirements for sponsorship).
