Immigration to parents of US born babies

Is there any immigration benefit for parents of US born babies who are on B1/B2 visas? I know the baby becomes a US citizen automatically. What happens to the parents? Can they stay in the US or get any kind of green card/permanent resident status? I heard that the mother can stay but not the father. But under what law?

Just curious.

Thanks.

I thought the child had to be 18 years old before he/she can sponser his/her parents? Some people also told me that this law is not very strictly followed. Meaning that the mother hardly gets deported or has to leave when her visa is over. Some even say that if the parents are Canadians or Mexican, then the mother isn't sent back either. Some NAFTA law or something. Does anyone know for a fact what the real law is?

Of course if they can't find the parents, then they can't deport anyone of them! I knew this couple who had their son in the US and both the parents are out of status currently (overstayed their visas). So the father was planning to leave for fears of being caught and deported. But not the mother as they were saying that INS can't deport the mother because she has an American baby that she need to look after. In this case what happens? Do they allow the mother to stay and look after the baby? I always thought that she would have to leave too and that child could be taken up by social services if the parents can't provide for the child. So the mother couldn't use the child excuse to stay back.

Your thoughts?
