Immigration on the Airport

Can anybody tell me how long does the immigration process on the Airport take if I am coming to US as a green card winner with the DV visa stamp in the passport and the closed envelope? I am going to Miami but I have changing flight in Washington and only 2 hours for changing. And I think that I have to go through the immigration in Washington and I dont know if it is gonna be enough time. Thanks!

might not be,
I had the same question and was adviced that this could take from 2-4 hours.

Maybe 2 hours are enough, maybe not. Depends how long the lines are and how long it takes before all your papers are ready. I would take a later connection flight.

Or do you think that I will do this in Miami when I leave the airport? Because in Washington I will stay in the airport area. What do you think?

Ur flight from WAshington to Miami is a domestic flight so ur POE will be Washington.

It took us only 20mins but it was in LAX. It would be different in Miami as it's busier. There were no one people in the queue.

Good luck,
Denniz

like we already explained - the procedure itself takes minutes. Standing in line time - depends on the airport. My parents stood in that line for 2 hours at ATL airport. My friends barely made it to the plane in JFK with a two-hour stop. I wouldn't risk it.

I just immigrated through Washington Dulles Airport yesterday. I also only had 2hours to my next flight and was worried that I might not make it. Fortunately, my plane from Zurich arrived about 25minutes earlier. I asked whether I had to stand in the line for US Citizens and Residents or Visitors. I was told that I had to use the visitor's line which is really long in Washington. Once it was my turn, the officer took my sealed envelop and the passport and told me to go to the Secondary Inspection office. I had to wait about 20minutes there, and I made my next flight without a problem.
When I checked in at the airport in Zurich, I asked whether the flight company would put me on the next plane without me having to pay extra and I was told that it's not a problem. However, I suppose it depends on whether there are still seats available, so it might be more difficult in times when a lot of people travel (e.g. in summer or over Christmas).

Congratulation Igmu for the activation of the green card and ALL THE BEST in USA, hope you will have time in future to inform us about all the steps for SSN, GC etc.
