hi. i'm a Canadian citizen, and i have my dual citizenship in America. My fiance is American and we are planning on getting married down in the states.

we want to come back to Canada to live, but he has a criminal record. i am curious about what kind of process i would have to go through to bring him with me to my country once we are married.

is there a certain amount of time that can pass after you're charged with a crime so that it isnt considered a threat or something? like, 3 years...5 years maybe?

thanks.
Jen.

convicted. he did 4 years. is there a certain amount of time that has to pass after he got out before he can cross the border?

I believe 5 years in the minimum amount of time. However for some convictions, Canada considers the person inadmisible for ever. I would recommend discussing his exact convictions with an experienced lawyer.
