Immigration Lawyer problem

HI everyone!

I read a few posts about the lawyer named Thomas C Jones. It would have been nice if I have known about him before I got myself into this. I believe I have fallen for his tricks. It took me a while to find a lawyer whom I thought was knowledgable to file my NIW application. Thomas C Jones was really prompt and seemed like he had a lot of experience. Once he received the payment, he has not responded to my many attempts to contact him.

I need some advice on how to handle the situation. What is the experience of others with this guy? Does he file the application at all? Should I consider finding another lawyer to take my case? I really don't know what to do. I appreciate any advice anyone can give me.

Thanks!

Dan

hi

I have heard of Thomas C Jones...one of my naive friends (physician) filed for NIW as EA. Of what I understand the attorney filed his case telling him that no recommendation letters are needed (this is true in the case if you have a contract in the underserved area...but not if you are filing NIW on the basis of EA). More than a year was lost and the guy had to start from scratch again. You should really go with a better known lawyer. What are your qualifications? Post your email and I can send you the names of few (I am not affiliated with anyone at all...just a regular guy like yourself) ...however hate to see people losing time and money (I went through it myself). If you are good with handling legal stuff and have time....either do it yourself...and pray you did'nt screw up....OR go through a good attorney...and again pray that he/she did'nt screw up! (proofread what an attorney files..even a good one).

If you decide to change lawyers, please do future applicants a favor and file a complaint with your State's Bar association.

Find out how to file an ethics complaint in the state that the attorney has bar membership. Something like this alone is a problem but a series of them can lead to disbarrment Even a sincgle complaint could lead to a suspension in some states, dep[ending on the circumstances.

Hi, Dan,

I also hired this guy, and had exactly the same problem. I don't konw why this guy still have a good standing on his state bar.
Did you already fire him? Did you get your money back?
I'm going to fire him. Could you share your experiences with me?
If you already fired him, Did you find another good attorney or you are tring to do youself? Many thanks.

Rdip, Could you also send me some names of good attorneys? Thank you.

My email is pangdede@yahoo.com

I also had him reviewed my qualifications for my NIW. I was very suspicious about his claim that recommendation letters are not needed. He put an ad on a well circulated Chemistry/Chemical News Magazine, so I guess more innocent people will be tricked by him.
